The Grand National was unofficially started at Aintree by Mr. Lynn who was an innkeeper and an entrepreneur and officially by Lord Molyneux, July the 7th, 1829 in Merseyside, England. The race became an instant success and was then won by the horse named The Duke. It has a huge course about 2-1/2 quarter miles including 16 uniquely build fences among which we have the famous Becher’s Brook. The Grand National race course was newly built later on by the Topham family who had been associated with it throughout the ages and was opened publicly in 1953.
